Battle of Wyboo Swamp Mural
During the American Revolution, the Bridges Campaign and Watson Chase March 6, 1781, Colonel Watson and British troops from Fort Watson were sent to crush General Marion. Marion’s Militia challenged them on the 1/4 mile causeway over Wyboo Swamp. The cavalry clashed several times on the causeway. When the cannon arrived Marion withdrew to a position near the Cantey Plantation.
